One month after the release of the first dedicated tool for Google Analytics data created with Looker Studio, I am pleased to present another free-to-use solution: The Podium Chart, allowing the generation of top 3 rankings using dimensions suitable for logos & pictures:
- Gen AI chats traffic sources
- Browsers
- Countries
- Operating Systems

Infographic requirements
The challenge to myself was to inject an infographic feel into a dynamic and interactive report, while adhering to recognized best practices in data visualization (readability, prioritization of information, data pixel ratio, etc.).
For example, to meet this desire for perspective, ribbons are included to create a depth effect, but they must also serve the data by putting in front of the stage —both literally and figuratively — the three main numbers in the ranking.
The blur effect in the background also enhances the perspective while emphasizing the intent to place raw and complete data in the background. Some might want to see these details? Let’s provide a “Sharpen” option to make things clearer 😊… admittedly, it’s a little gadget, but fun to add at the end of the project.
Technical complexity
The second, more common challenge was to circumvent Looker Studio’s limitations by finding tricks to achieve the wished final rendering. Some ideas were indeed difficult to implement, but I enjoy tackling these problems and discovering new solutions; it helps me improve and broaden the range of workarounds I use in standard reports.
Ultimately, this report is full of workarounds. Let’s not forget that with the Google Analytics connector combined with a data controller, no external data preparation is possible. Everything is handled within Looker Studio.
The data
I found it amusing to offer a tool that allows you to create an infographic on a trending topic like traffic provided by generative AI chats such as Claude, Mistral Le Chat, Perplexity, and Gemini. This traffic is low but it will grow, and if your site is not concerned, you can use browsers or operating systems data as consolation.
The default displayed data comes from a demo site that does not yet have Gen AI traffic, hence the default browser statistics.
Access to the tool
Now you know everything. It’s your turn to test this tool on the websites you own or manage. Don’t hesitate to share your feedback. The idea is to progressively improve and enrich each tool. Also, remember that my premium templates are coming soon, and exercises like this are a kind of appetizer.
